Dennis James Klekar, 61, of Hallettsville, was welcomed home by the Lord on June 6, 2016. He was born on Nov. 29, 1954 to Albert J. & Leonella Novak Klekar Jr. was the oldest of five boys who grew up on various homesteads in the Moravia-Breslau area. He graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1974. His various skills included laying floors, carpets and vinyl. He also worked in the Oil and Gas Industry and served as a deputy for the Lavaca County Sheriff's Department for several years. In his last 20 years or so he did mostly carpentry work and took an interest in tearing down old houses and barns to reuse and restore the old lumber. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.
Dennis was a loving and caring man who enjoyed working with his hands in his carpentry business. In his free time you could find him tending to his garden, cooking in the kitchen, or feeding his chickens. He took great pride in everything he did in life. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.
Dennis is survived by: his son Travis Klekar & wife Amanda; granddaughter Maddy; his mother Leonella; 4 brothers, Ronald Klekar, Michael Klekar, Patrick Klekar, and Robert Klekar & wife Margaret, all of Hallettsville; nephew Brandon; niece Cherise; along with numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Dennis was preceded in death by: his father and infant sisterat birth; his grandparents, along with cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Dennis will be truly missed.
Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Friday, June 10, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 5 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at7 pm. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials (lieu of flowers): Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Donor's Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
