It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of David Lee Janak Jr., of Hallettsville, who left this world on July 7, 2026, at the age of 44. Born on September 5, 1981, in Houston, Texas, David and his family moved to Hallettsville when he was in grade school and has resided here ever since. He was a cherished husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, whose zest for life and adventurous spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
A proud alumnus of Sacred Heart Catholic High School, David graduated in 2000. Having athletic accomplishment, he played on several State Championship football and baseball teams. He earned numerous honors at both district and state levels, showcasing his dedication and talent.
David loved competing and participation in sports, hobbies included his four-wheelers and his cherished motorcycle. As an active member of multiple bike riding clubs, He participated in benefit rides and poker runs, and he enjoyed promoting and judging car shows. His love for the open road was evident and his adventurous spirit often led him on spontaneous journeys, accompanied by a touch of moonshine and perhaps a scratch-off ticket or two. He also had the deep love for the game of Billiards. He enjoyed competing in tournaments and being a member of the Pool-A-Holics.
David built a diverse career that included both sales and auto mechanics over the course of 12 years, before dedicating the last 14 years of his professional life to Pepsico.
David's life was a testament to living fully and joyfully, embracing the beauty of the outdoors and the thrill of the ride. He will be remembered as a man with a generous heart and an infectious enthusiasm for life.
David was the son of David Lee Janak Sr. & Deborah Loukanis Janak. He was devoted to the family he leaves behind, his loving wife Joy Faith Janak, son Brysen Janak and stepson Logan Murray, brother Derick & wife Mallory, nephew Jensen Janak and Grandmother Bibian Loukanis. Also, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
David was preceded in death by his father David Lee Janak Sr., his grandparents, Edward & Betty Janak and Harold Loukanis and parents-in-law Ralph & Donna Kay Schindler.
Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at 7 pm. Officiant: Rev. Michael Rother. Memorials: Charity of Your Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
