Janak Sr.
August 23, 1956 – March 14, 2009
David graduated from Sam Houston High School, Houston, in 1974 where he met Deborah, his high school sweetheart.
On Feb. 21, 1976 David L. Janak Sr. married Deborah Kay Loukanis at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Houston, Texas. They shared 33 beautiful years together, being blessed with two children, David Lee Janak Jr. and Derick Michael Janak, both of Hallettsville. He also is known as PoPo to his only grandson, Brysen Kade Janak.
David served several years for the St. Charles Borromeo School Board, where his boys attended elementary school. He was also very active in various school and church activities at St. Charles. David chaperoned the boy's field trips and other school functions through out his boy's school years in Houston and Sacred Heart School, Hallettsville.
During his early years, David spent many weekends with his family at the deer camp and family farm in Lavaca County visiting with his aunts, uncles and cousins.
David spent more than 20 years working for Coastal Casting Inc. in Houston, Texas before moving to Hallettsville in 1995 and the past 12 years working for Better Beverages LTD in Hallettsville, Texas currently as Vending Supervisor. Not only was David dedicated to his job but he also was dedicated to coaching his two sons in Little League baseball for more than 15 years and David was looking forward to passing on the game of baseball to Brysen who is already practicing his fundamentals.
David is survived by his wife Deborah; 2 sons, David Jr. and Derick Janak; grandson Brysen Janak, parents; Edward & Betty Wittenborn Janak; brother Glenn Janak & wife Laurie; 2 sisters, Barbara McElroy & husband Ronald; and Paula Steffek & husband Leon Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are William Hermes, Robert Orsak, Darrell Loukanis, Duane Loukanis, Melvin Meleski, Mike Zawacki, Pete Garcia, and Jerry Wilson.
Mass Service: 2pm, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 3pm, Tuesday, as Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7pm, Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. John Peters.
