Daniel James
Klekar
March 25, 1942 – June 11, 2016
Daniel James Klekar went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully with his wife at his side on June 11, 2016, after a long battle with alzheimer's and lung cancer. He was born in Hallettsville, Texas, on March 25, 1942, the eighth child of Frances and Albert Klekar, Sr.
He married the one and only love of his life and best friend, Anna Pustejovsky, on June 16, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, Texas. They shared almost fifty-three years of wonderful memories filled with tears of happiness and tears of sorrow.
Daniel graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1961. He served in the US National Guard. He belonged to the American Legion Post #230, K.J.T., Knights of Columbus Post #2433 and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Daniel was owner of Klekar's House of Interiors till his retirement in 2004. He and his wife, Anna, operated a successful interior decorating business. They specialized in home furnishings, floor coverings of carpet, vinyl, wood and ceramic; wall coverings and window treatments for residential and commercial interiors. Daniel will be remembered for his outstanding workmanship and attention to detail.
Daniel and Anna will be reminisced for their outstanding endeavor as founders of the "Festival of Lights" which illuminates the Lavaca County Courthouse portraying that Jesus Christ is the "Light of the World". The Lighting Extravaganza was started in 1997 on the 100 th birthday of the courthouse and is on display annually from the Saturday after Thanksgiving till mid January.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Frances (Kresta) and Albert Klekar Sr.; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Angeline (Chudej) and Fred Pustejovsky Sr.; sisters Lucy (John) Henke and Josephine (August) Janak; brothers Alphonse Klekar, Albert Klekar Jr., Leon Klekar Sr. and August Klekar; sister-in-law Rosemary Klekar; and brothers-in-law John Henke and Leo Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Anna, and sister, Mildred Christ; sisters-in-law Leonella Klekar (Albert), Sidonia Klekar (Leon) and Ginger Klekar (August); brother-in-law August Janak; sister-in-law Carol Grones (Leon) and brother-in-law Fred Pustejovsky Jr., (Annie); and special friend Ronnie Timm.
The funeral to celebrate his life will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, Texas, on June 19, 2016, beginning at 1:30 pm with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Glorious Mysteries Rosary followed at 2:30 pm with visitation before the Funeral Mass at 3:30 pm with Msgr. John Peters officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Hallettsville, Texas at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Alzheimer's Association, Hospice of South Texas, M.D. Anderson, Hallettsville's "Festival of Lights" or charity of one's choice.
