Daniel J. Grahmann, 81 of San Antonio passed away on August 9, 2017. He was born August 24, 1935 to Joe J. and Lillie T. Chovanetz Grahmann in Hallettsville, Texas.
Dan grew up in Hallettsville where he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. He then attended St. Mary's University where he earned his degree in Accounting. His early years were spent with the Army Audit Agency examining Government Contracts. He then went to work with Chromalloy Gas Turbine in San Antonio where he negotiated Government contracts. In January1984, Dan started Grahmann International Contracting. GIC specialized in consulting and marketing airplane engines for commercial firms. In 1986 he teamed up with EC Technologies where he was successful in securing the contract for the repair of the TF33 (JT3D) first stage turbine blades. He later handled ECT's commercial and military sales. In 1989 he ventured into the airplane engine spare parts business where he acquired large inventory items such as JT3D, JT8D, JT8D-200 and the CFM56-3 that were overhauled and sold to operators. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed raising registered Polled Herefords at his D-Bar ranch in Salt Gap near Melvin Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe J. Grahmann, Lillie T. Chovanetz Grahmann, wife, Rosalie Rice Grahmann, and brother William H. "Suggie" Grahmann. Daniel is survived by his wife, Donna Taylor Grahmann, daughters, Lisa Neumann, Dawn Huff, Leslie Wall and Kaye Eichler; grandchildren: Elizabeth Perez, Allison Manry, Jared Eichler, Anne Marie Eichler, Douglas Wall and Drew Wall; Great-grandchildren: Katherine Perez, Audrey Manry and Bailey Manry; sisters: Madeline Migura and Bridget Marvin; nieces and nephews: Wesley Migura, Warren Migura, Wayne Migura, Melaine Migura, Jennifer Janik, Sophia Grahmann, Jimmy Grahmann, Kelly Grahmann, Greg Grahmann, and Matthew Marvin; Aunts: Lily Lutz, Leona Chovanetz and Evelyn Pavliska.
The family would like to thank the caregivers who showed love and compassion to Dan during his illness; Dina Lott, Teresa Allen, Santa Garcia, Luis Delrosario and Diana Ornelas.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital or Shriners Children's Hospital.
