Obituary

Cynthia Ann Spanihel (Cindy), age 64, of Hallettsville, Texas, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend, gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, September 28, 2025.  She was born on September 19, 1961, to Arthur and Irene (Kouba) Wick in Hallettsville, where she grew up surrounded by love and family.  She attended grade school in Hallettsville and proudly graduated from Hallettsville High School with the Class of 1980.  Driven by a passion for learning and helping others, she pursued higher education at the University of Houston–Victoria, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education.

On September 2, 1982, Cindy married the love of her life, Tim Spanihel, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion.  They recently celebrated 43 wonderful years of marriage.  Their greatest blessings came in the form of their two daughters, Hillary Spanihel Neskora and Emily Spanihel, who were the light of her life.

Cindy dedicated over 30 years to education, shaping young minds and touching countless lives as a beloved teacher.  She spent much of her career at St. Michael's Catholic School in Cuero, TX, and also served in Victoria ISD, where she was deeply respected by students and colleagues alike for her kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment to her vocation.

Outside of the classroom, Cindy found joy in life's simple pleasures.  She was an avid reader, a lover of the quiet country life, and a proud "Pug mom" to her beloved dog, Rosie.  More than anything, she cherished her role as "Granny" to her grandchildren and found immense joy in spending time with Mason, Jordann, and Peyton, as well as her treasured nieces, nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews.

Cindy is survived by:  her loving husband Tim Spanihel; daughters, Hillary Spanihel Neskora (partner Randal Barger) and Emily Spanihel; her grandchildren, Mason Neskora, Jordann Neskora and Peyton Neskora; brothers, Arthur James (wife CJ) Wick and Maurice (wife Rose) Wick; sister Marilyn (husband Dwayne) Drozd; and a sister-in-law Diana Wick.  In addition, she leaves behind extended family members and a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss her warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Irene Wick, her brother Daniel Wick and her nephew Shawn Drozd.

Cindy's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
