Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Terry Landrum, 77, of Hallettsville, passed away September 6, 2025. He was born on February 3, 1948, to Herbert & Vonnie Smith Landrum, on a small ranching community near Mount Pleasant Texas. He married Major Bonnie Lou Payne (retired United States Army Medical Corp) on November 9, 1985, in Mount Pleasant.
CSM Landrum military career began upon enlistment in June 1967 and retiring in July 2004 from the United States Army Infantry for a total of 37 years, 11 days of service. He served at every level of leadership in the United States Army Infantry. He also served in numerous staff positions and as a military instructor at all levels in the Noncommissioned Officer Education System, instructor for Sapper Leader, Light Leader, Airborne, Air Assault, and also a certified Rappel Master and Cast Master.
CSM Landrum served with the; 2nd Infantry Division, 3rd Armored Corp, 4th infantry Division, 5th Army (West), 10th Mountain Division, 29th Infantry Division (Light), 101st Airborne Division and on the staff at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. His awards and decorations included; Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and numerous other awards, tabs and special skill badges. He was present Post Commander for the American Legion since 2007 and past Post Commander for the Veterans of Foreign War in Hallettsville.
CSM Landrum is survived by his wife Bonnie, 2 sons Keith Landrum and Robert Landrum and daughter Renee Chesser & husband Jason. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service: 12 noon, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville; Visitation starting at 10 am; and Rosary at 11:30 am. Officiant: Rev. Christopher Bediako. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Burial: 11 am, Monday, September 15, 2025, at Union Hill Cemetery, 750 FM 2348, Mount Pleasant, Texas.
