Connie Kaye Laake, 66, of Sheridan, passed away Dec. 26, 2013. She was born on Dec. 21, 1947 to Robert B. & Ora Maples Criswell in Columbus, TX. She married Harvey J. Laake on Feb. 11, 1968 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. She was a member of the PTS (Parent-Teacher-Student organization) and Red Hats.

Connie had a passion for all things baseball. She never missed any of her children or grandchildren's games, and always showed up with her chair, blankets, and a notebook to keep track of the score. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, when she could put up her baseball themed tree, and shower everyone with gifts she put so much thought into.

Connie's favorite past time was reading, and she loved all genres, except sci-fi. Her house is filled with so many books; you could say she had her own personal library.

Connie loved spending time with her family, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Connie is survived by: 2 sons, Rodney Laake & wife Cheryl of Sheridan, and Shane Laake & wife Shelli of Alleyton; sister Roberta Bobbie Jatzlau & husband Kenny of Sheridan; and 6 grandchildren, Jason, Ty, Kendall, Nolan, Calli, and Jase.

Connie was preceded in death by: her husband Harvey, parents, and brother Robert Criswell.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Kubena Funeral Home.
Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home.
Officiant: Rev. Harry Brisco.
Pallbearers: Steven Maupin, Jason Oncken, Hank Janecka, Earl Jones, Chance Kansteiner, and Reed Jones.
Honorary Pallbearers: Marie Hayek, Kelly Krpec, Carole Pavilcek, Harley Bell, Cody Bell, Jennifer, and Brandie Sell.
Memorials: American Cancer Society, Friench Simpson Memorial Library or Donor's Choice.
Burial: Willow Creek Cemetery.
