Charles F. Michalec, 88, of Hallettsville, passed away May 2, 2019. He was born on August 9, 1930 to Frank & Bessie Culak Michalec in Moulton, TX. He married Evelyn Mikulencak on October 24, 1949 in Moulton. He was a member of the Hallettsville Booster Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Charles graduated from Moulton High School in 1948. He retired from the Texas Highway Dept. in 1987, after 35 years. He has been taking care of lawns in and around Hallettsville for nearly 50 years. He was an avid deer hunter, and supporter of the Longhorns & Hallettsville Brahmas. He also coached his sons in Little League for a number of years. In 1999, the Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture presented him the "Hallettsville Hospitality Award". Above all, was his family; his marriage to Evelyn for 69 years 6 months, and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Charles is survived by: his wife Evelyn; son Charles "Mike" Michalec Jr. & wife Karen; daughter Cynthia Edgar & husband John; brother Anton Michalec; 4 sisters, Georgia Bohuslav & husband Frank, Annette Raab & husband Quinton, Elsie Barta, and Susette Ochoa & husband Ernest; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by: his son David Michalec; parents; 2 brothers, Donald and Boyce Michalec; and sister Joyce Dillman.

Funeral Mass Service : 11 am, Monday, May 6, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home; with the Rosary starting at 6 pm. Pallbearers: Charles Michalec Jr. (Mike), Wesley Michalec, Kirk Michalec, Charlie David Michalec, John Edgar, Justin Edgar, Aden Edgar, and Judson Hedberg. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Donor's choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
