Charles W. Charles was reared in Waelder, Texas as the eldest child, with five brothers and sisters. His mother was a school teacher and his father was employed by Waelder Ford Motor, Co.

Charles was preceeded in death by his parents; brother, Calvin A Beck; and adopted stepson, Fred Beck, a latent casualty of the Vietnam war. Charles is survived by his wife, Ruth Lowe Beck, son Charles Wesley Beck, Jr., Spring, TX; daughter Margaret Beck Lanham of Spring, Texas; grandchildren Travis Lanham of Austin, TX; Megean Lanham Creed and husband Jeremy Creed of Spring, Texas; and great grandchildren Parker and Cooper. This late enlistment into the military entitles Charles to WWII benefits which he used to attend the Chicago Institute of Technology for two years (in Chicago) gaining an advanced certificate in the field of heating and air conditioning. This training he did not use, but in 1952 became a career employee of The Austin Company (building contractors). After the completion of jobs for Dow Chemical Co, in freeport, Texas, Charles was assigned to various jobs throughout South-Central U.S. as a project accountant for approximately thirty five years.

After his retirement in 1987, Charles enjoyed his love of fishing for several years. He then focused on his love for gardening on a small scale (and keeping the squirrels from getting his tomatoes before he could eat them!) His favorite thing in life was spending time with his family and interacting with his great grandchildren.
