Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Adolph Jansky, 75, of Hallettsville, passed away September 13, 2018. He was the middle child of Adolph & Mary Cinadr Jansky, born on December 16, 1942 in Hallettsville. Chuck was a member of Knights of Columbus, KJT, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. He served as reserve deputy for the City of Hallettsville, and a past member of the Hallettsville Volunteer Fire Department. He also served six years in the United States National Guard. Charles was known by many names including Charlie, Chuck, Chuckles and Popo, with PoPo being the most popular.

Chuck married Dorothy Holik on June 23, 1962 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, Texas. Charles and Dorothy were graduates of Sacred Heart Catholic High School Class of 1961. He lettered in football and won three state football games. Charles and Dorothy met while attending Sacred Heart School, and dating all of their high school years. They spent a lot of time attending functions at school, ball games and prom.   They shared 56 years together. They enjoyed dancing to the Vrazels Polka Bank and followed them wherever they played.

After Chuck's National Guard training, he went to work in Houston for 5 years for Mosher Steel Company as a welder. The next 32 years he worked offshore for Marine Drilling Co. & Pride Offshore as a welder. He spent time offshore fishing in his spare time. He brought home many pounds of red snapper. After his retirement from the rig, he helped his son Glenn at Jansky Repair Shop. He drove the school bus for Sacred Heart School as a part-time sub.

Chuck loved his cattle. He made several trips to Vienna checking cattle, fence lines and simply hanging around.   Chuck and Dorothy made several trips with friends to Louisiana. He enjoyed deer hunting with his grandsons and just sitting by the campfire having a beer or two playing washers. They also made several family trips to Lake Somerville with his grandchildren skiing, swimming, fishing and camping.

Chuck was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in September 2016. With this brain disease he developed problems with thinking, reasoning, movement symptoms, rigid muscles, hallucinations, sleep disorders & balance problems.

Chuck is survived by: his wife Dorothy; 3 sons, Glenn Jansky & wife Evelyn, Dennis Jansky & wife Sheila of Hallettsville and Ronnie Jansky of Victoria; 8 grandchildren, Derek Jansky & Kelsey Jansky of Victoria, Loren Kostelnik & husband Kevin of Nursery, Justin Jansky & wife Charlie of Georgetown, Jason Jansky & wife Sarah, Stephen Jansky & wife Casey, Kendall Jansky & Braden Jansky of Hallettsville; 8 great-grandchildren, Cole, Macie, Carson & Mabry Jansky of Georgetown, Jarrett Jansky of Hallettsville, Julie, Dylon & Damon Kostelnik of Nursery; sister Patsy Fabian of Hallettsville; and brother Alfonse Jansky & wife Cheryl of Hallettsville.

Chuck was preceded in death by: his parents; and 4 brothers, Adolph Jr., Joseph, Freddie & Jerome Jansky.

Funeral Mass Service : 2 pm, Sunday Sept. 16, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Saturday at Kubena Funeral Home; with Rosary starting at 7 pm. Pallbearers: Derek Jansky, Justin Jansky, Jason Jansky, Stephen Jansky, Kendall Jansky, and Braden Jansky. Honorary Pallbearers: the great grandchildren. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters .  Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church/School, Hospice of South Texas or Donor's choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
