Obituary

Bobby Bernard Pohl, 72, of Hallettsville passed away Monday October 10, 2011 at his home in Hallettsville. He was born on November 23, 1938 in Lavaca County to Arthur Oswald "Bob" and Velma Pohl. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 15, 1961 and served in the Korean Conflict. Bobby married Sonya Duk Soon in 1963 in Korea.

Bobby was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator most of his working life. He greatly enjoyed his gardening and raising chickens. It gave him great pleasure giving away to family and friends the vegetables he raised and the eggs he picked. Later in life he enjoyed watching the squirrels in his back yard, as they would jump on his wheelchair and he would feed them. Bobby was a simple man and enjoyed the simple things in life.

Bobby is survived by: his wife of 48 years, Sonya Pohl of Hallettsville; sons, Leslie Bernard Pohl and wife Denise and Harvey Alton Pohl; grandchildren Nick and Mikie Pohl all of Hallettsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step siblings; Elsie Hickey, Winnie Louise Kuban and Arthur Alton "Jack" Pohl. We would like to give special thanks to his caregiver, Susie Whitford.

Graveside Service: 4pm, Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the Salem Cemetery. Visitation: Wednesday from 9am to 3pm at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Bryan Tesch, Mike Rother, Ray Boyle, Donnie Horton, Nick Pohl, and Mikie Pohl. Officiate: Rev. Herb Beyer. Burial: Salem Cemetery in Ezzell.
