Bobby L. Bentley, 68, of Hallettsville, passed away July 7, 2016. He was born on August 7, 1947 to John F. & Mildred Trout Bentley in Electra, TX. He lived in Midland, TX as a young boy, but moved to Kinder, LA in his high school years where he graduated from Kinder High School in 1965. He loved Louisiana for the fishing, hunting and good people, but he always proclaimed himself a Texan. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the American Legion Post #230.
In 1974, he met his wife, Nancy, at the Smokehouse where she was working as a waitress. He always said it was love at first sight. Nancy often remembers him saying, "Not only are you the love of my life, but you are my life." He married Nancy Tesch on November 17, 1974 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville.
Bob's favorite activities were baseball and visiting the Coushatta casinos. He played 1A baseball for a short time and loved going to Astro's games. Later in life, he chartered bus tours to the Coushatta casinos where he loved playing the slots. Here in Hallettsville, he often had weekly poker games. Several of his pallbearer's are his poker buddies and others are dear friends.
In his last year's, he has had failing health but always remained positive with a great sense of humor. Bob will be missed by his family and friends.
Bobby is survived by: his wife Nancy; son Tyrel Bentley & wife Shawna of San Antonio; daughter Christina Bentley-Casey & husband Patrick of San Antonio; brother Dale Bentley of Louisiana; sister Pam Rogers of Tyler, TX; and 4 grandchildren, Savana Bentley, Patrick (PJ) Casey, Tesch Wheatley, and Soren Bentley.
Bobby was preceded in death by; his parents, daughter Brandy Lee Wheatley, and parent-in-laws Louis & Evelyn Tesch.
Funeral Service: 1:30 pm, Monday, July 11, 2016, at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville; with visitation at 12 Noon. Pallbearers: Randy Morton, Kevin Thaete, Sonny Bujnoch, Patrick Bujnoch, Shorty Bujnoch, and Larry Janak. Honorary Pallbearer: Tramer Woytek. Officiant: Rev. Herb Beyer. Memorials: American Legion, St. Peter Lutheran Church, Wounded Warriors, or Donor's Choice. Burial: Vsetin Cemetery.
