Blake fought a good fight. Through the many challenges he was presented, Blake showed spirit and courage. His doctors were very impressed by this and amazed by the miracles that took place, so amazed that even in a sea of patients, Blake's face is one they still remember.

Though his struggles were many, they did not define his person. Blake loved to enjoy a beer with his friends, he loved fishing, hunting, and fast cars. He was a special young man. He had a good heart. He loved to laugh and joke. He enjoyed trying new things on the grill and his favorite sleeping partner was his puppy, Maya. There are so many special memories we each have of Blake and his ways, we can never fit them all on one page, but we can hold them all in our hearts. Thank you so much, Blake, for all the good times! We will love and miss you always…

Blake is survived by: his mother Karen; father James; brother J. A. Whitfield; 4 sisters, Shannon Hermes, Shaye Roskey & husband Brantley, Bronwyn Whitfield, and Kristen Whitfield; aunt Lynette Langhamer & husband Alvin; 4 nephews, Jonathon Urban, Jacob Evans, Cole Urban, and Joshua Zatopek; niece Jordyn Evans; and grandparents, Franklin Billimek and James Whitfield.

Blake was preceded in death by his grandparents, Janie Billimek and Mary Chamberlin.

Service: 2:30 pm, Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Visitation: 3 pm, Saturday at Kubena Funeral Home; with the family receiving visitors from 6 pm to 8 pm. Pallbearers: Jonathna Hobizal, Joshua Houston, Alan Bienek, Julian Soliz, Wyman Lofton, and Neal Fanelli. Honorary Pallbearers: Brantley Roskey, Patrick Passmore, Cody Blaylock, Frank Ortega, Franklin Billlimek, and Alvin Langhamer. Officiate: Pastor Larry Helms. Burial: Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Driscoll Children Hospital in Corpus Christi.
