IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bj
Nolen
May 25, 1931 – September 14, 2008
As a boy, BJ lived on the family ranch in Speaks and was raised by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fritsch. He attended elementary school at Speaks Community Center and later attended high school in Edna, TX where he graduated at the age of 17. He then went on to attend college at the University of Houston. While attending college in Houston, he worked as a file clerk at MD Anderson.
BJ was a fighter. He learned how to fight while serving as a member of the United States Air Force. A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a radar mechanic who set the bomb sights on planes. He was honorably discharged on February 2, 1954.
BJ was a man that believed in small government and the rights of the small man. He fought for taxpayer's rights and for the people of not only Lavaca county, but for all who needed help throughout the State of Texas. Those who knew BJ will agree that he was a man of honor and integrity. His word was rock solid, he meant what he said, and could always back it up with the facts.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Evelyn Nolen, his son Billy J Nolen II of Round Rock, TX, granddaughter Destiny Nolen, grandson Hayes Nolen, daughter Kelly Richards and son-in-law Brandon Richards of Leander, TX. Preceded in death were his grandparents, parents, and infant sister.
BJ was loved and respected by his family and will be greatly missed. The many friends that sought his advice will always remember his words of wisdom. And even though BJ lost his battle with cancer, his fighting spirit will continue to live on in those who love him.
We Love You Forever!!
BJ's Family
