Billie Reid Ponton Smith,86, of Ezzell, passed May 5th after a long battle with cancer.  She was born on February 14, 1935 in Ezzell to William Arnim Reid & Verna Chambers Reid.  On July 17, 1950, she married Charles Ponton from Hallettsville and had a son, Joel Ponton.  Charles passed away in October 13,1982.  On April 8, 1990, she married Lloyd Smith of Matagorda County, Texas.  Together they continued to reside in Hallettsville until his passing on June 16, 2017.

Billie loved having her family around her and watching the great grandchildren playing.  She and Lloyd shared a favorite pastime of fishing, which they did as often as possible.  Billie had a fondness for the outdoors including watching the birds at the feeder and even hunting for copperhead snakes.

Billie is survived by:  her only son Joel (Bo) Ponton & wife Nancy; two grandsons, Kelley Ponton & wife Joy and Casey Ponton & wife Sabrina; six great grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Caleb, Coy, Cannin and Cianna; two stepsons, Danny Smith & wife Sharon and David Smith & fiancé Melissa; step daughter Clara Havenstrite & husband Chet; four step grandsons, Stephen Smith & wife Heather, Dustin Smith, Matt Mullins & wife Malinda and Josh Mullin; two great grandchildren, Ashley & Harper.

Billie was preceded in death by; her parents, first husband Charles Ponton, second husband Lloyd Smith, and sister Erna Faye Holt.

Funeral Service (All attendees is suggested wear masks): 11 am, Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Kubena Funeral Home, Hallettsville, TX; with V isitation starting at 9 am. Pallbearers: Casey Ponton, Austin Ponton, Caleb Ponton, Coy Ponton, Dustin Smith and Matt Mullins. Honorary Pallbearers: Kelley Ponton, Cannin Ponton, Stephen Smith and Josh Mullins. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Burial: Salem Cemetery.
