Billie David Boethel, 78, of Hallettsville, passed away May 19, 2020. He was born on September 27, 1941, to Oscar E. & Zilfa Melnar Boethel in Hallettsville. He was honorable discharge from the US Army on November 30, 1969, and a member of the American Legion.

Billie was also known as "Popo in Town". He enjoyed sitting on his front porch while admiring his well-maintained yard. Keeping his vehicles clean was a weekly chore. He was a hunting buddy to Ashley and Emma and will be greatly missed at deer camp.

Billie is survived by: his son Dwayne Boethel & wife Tanya; 2 sisters, Margie Opela & husband Joseph, and Patsy Sims & husband Gary; 2 grandchildren, Ashley & Emma Boethel; niece Lindsay Sims Duty; and 3 nephews, Garrett Sims, Justin Opela and Kelly Opela..

Billie was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside Service: 3 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Old Kinkler Cemetery of Hallettsville. Officiant: Pastor Herb Beyer. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Old Kinkler Cemetery Association, Alzheimer Association, or Donor's Choice.
