Bill C. Ross, 67, of Sheridan, died Nov. 28, 2008. He was born on Aug. 2, 1941 to James "J.B." & Jewell Carroll Ross in Houston. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and would visit his friends at the Country Side Quick Stop. He was known for his quick wit and dependable work ethic.

Bill is survived by: 2 daughters, Melissa Leopold & husband Doug of Hallettsville, and Amanda Ross of Hallettsville; 2 sons, B.J. Ross and Larry Ross of Sheridan; brother Jim A. Ross of Sheridan; sister Diane Swearengin of Hempstead; and 4 grandchildren, Joey, Ben, Emily, and Prilly Leopold.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Larry Ross.

Service: 3 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Visitation: 1 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Pallbearers: Mark Ross, Jesse Ross, Larry Ross, B.J. Ross, Joey Leopold, and Ben Leopold. Honorary Pallbearers: Marvin Mozisek, Rudolph Merechka, Ray Lee Jackson, Dana Lauer, Steve Robinson, and Ben Smith. Burial: Geiger Cemetery. Officiate: Rev. Terry Horton. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): First Baptist Church's Team Kids, or Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department.
