Bettye Jean Botard Timm, 83, of Hallettsville passed away on March 1, 2016. She was born August 19, 1932 in Yoakum, Texas to Herman Garrett Botard, Sr. and Ethel Burris Botard. She married Harold Gene Timm on June 18, 1950 in Hallettsville.

Called Granny T by her grandkids, Bettye was a teacher and school administrator by profession. She earned her college degrees following the birth of her children and retired from Hallettsville ISD after nearly three decades of service.

She loved to "pull weeds" and always claimed that her yard could use some work, despite having one of the best looking ones in town. She ate oatmeal almost every morning, created her own recipes, saved the best clothes for dress-up, taught herself and the girls how to sew, and planned hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of shopping trips to Victoria. She actually even managed to go on a few. She loved her family, proudly showcasing photos of them all around the house and treating them to movies, ice cream, and orange circus peanuts when they visited. She loved walks with the dog, staying up late talking, and dancing with Gene. She gave love and was loved by many. Folks sure will miss her.

Bettye is survived by two daughters, Karen and husband Rusty Winn of Bellville, and Constance Van Zandt of Waxahachie; six grandchildren, Sarah and husband Steven Graham; Rachel and husband Jarad Bayer; Jillian and husband Brandon Blamer; Bethany Winn; Samuel Van Zandt and Carolynn Van Zandt; and sister Dolores Botard Downs of Victoria, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; brother Herman Garrett Botard, Jr.; and son-in-law Don Van Zandt.

Memorial Funeral Service: 2 pm, Friday, March 4, 2016 at First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville. Officiant: Pastor Melanie Monroe.
