Betty Jane Layton, 72, of Sheridan, passed from this world into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on Saturday, April 1, 2017, following a short illness. She was born on October 14, 1944 to Sirca Joseph & Sarah Varley Brisco in Weimar, TX. She married Robert G. Layton on September 7, 1963 in Hallettsville. She lived in Sheridan, Texas, for most of her life and was an active member of the community. She was a member of The Red Hat Society, First Baptist Church of Hallettsville and Rock Island Full Gospel Church.

Betty is survived by: husband Robert; son Robert "Bubba" Layton & wife Michelle of Hallettsville; 2 daughters, Sharon Marshall & husband Chris of Tylertown, Maryland, and Susan Layton of Sheridan; sister Lillian Allen of Hallettsville; 6 grandchildren, Shelli Layton Laake & husband Shane, Bryan Layton, Thomas Layton, Michael J. Beyette, Raegan Marshall, and Charity "CC" Marshall; and 4 great grandchildren, Kendall Layton, Robert "Nolan" Laake, Calli Laake, and Jase Laake.

Betty was preceded in death by: her parents; 4 brothers, Emmett, Jessie, Ervin and Sirca Raymond Brisco; and sister Dorothy Wilson.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 5 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Bryan Layton, Thomas Layton, Tristian Walker, Justice Silgero, Clifton Linnemier, Shawn Allen and Christopher Silgero. Officiant: Pastor Calvin Harris. Memorials: American Heart Association, Diabetes Association or Donor's Choice. Burial: Cheetham Cemetery of Sheridan.
