Betty Jean Hemmi, 89, of Hallettsville, passed away Jan. 30, 2012. She was born on Feb. 8, 1922 to Lafe & Ruth Standafer Williams in Gibbon, Nebraska. She married Walter W. Hemmi on Oct. 4, 1950 in Houston. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Betty is survived by: 6 children, Ruth Ann Hemmi of San Antonio, Richard Hemmi of Houston, Randall Hemmi & wife Patrice of Ville Platte, LA, Dennis Hemmi of Houston, Gary Hemmi & wife Susan of Schulenburg, and Mary Kay Wolfshohl & husband Eric of Pearland; brother Gary Lee Williams of St. Cloud, FL; grandchildren, Eric Brotherton, Christine Hemmi, Jessica Hemmi, Elizabeth Hemmi, and Lauren Wolfshohl; step-grandchildren, Jason Sherwood & wife Charissa, Adam Smith, and Rachael Smith; and great grandchildren, Wyatt and Malcolm Sherwood.

Betty was preceded in death by: her husband Walter; parents; sister Ellen Bruckner; brothers, Robert and Duane Williams; and grandson Jason Verrill.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Richard Hemmi, Randall Hemmi, Dennis Hemmi, Gary Hemmi, Eric Wolfshohl, and Eric Brotherton. Memorials: Hospice of South Texas, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or American Cancer Society. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
