Bernie A. Bludau, 86, of Hallettsville, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009. Bernie was born on January 12, 1923 in Hallettsville to Ben & Emilia Woitaske Bludau. He married Edna Klesel Bludau on October 11, 1946 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Bernie is survived by: his wife Edna; 13 children, B.J. Bludau, Sr. Mary Jean Bludau, Doris Chandler & husband Dave, Loretta Carpenter & husband Wayne, Mary Mathis & husband Don, Theresa Hunt & husband Johnny, Bernice Bludau, Debbie Wallace & husband Wayne, Cindy Otten & husband Lee, Gerrie Daly & husband John, Stan Bludau & wife Vanessa, Scott Bludau, and Jennifer Esteves & husband John; 2 sisters, Frieda Bludau and Mary Louise Staudt of San Antonio; brother Fred Bludau of Needville; and 13 grandchildren.

Bernie was preceded in death by: his son Stephen G. Bludau; parents; 4 brothers, Hilbert, Leo, Herbert and George Bludau; and 3 sisters, Adela Bludau, Lucille Friesenhahn, and Anita Hajovsky Drabek.

Service: 10 am, Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 3 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 6:30 pm, Tuesday, and 9:30 am, Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Brian Mathis, Justin Mathis, Phil Bludau, Alan Bludau, Mark Grahmann, and Marty Bludau. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic School.
