Bernice Ann Smith, 80, of Hallettsville, Texas, has gone home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on November 03, 2025. She was born September 04, 1945, in Bay City, Texas. She grew up on a small farm in Midfield, Texas, with her parents and three siblings. She graduated from Tidehaven High School in 1964.
Bernice then met Jerry Wayne Leadford and was married in 1966. From there she started her career/life as a cosmetologist that lasted a span of 30 years. Having helped start, own and run several beauty salons along the way. During this time, she had two sons, Tim and Tait Leadford.
Later Bernice remarried in 1985, to Wayne Smith of Hallettsville, Texas. They were married till October 08, 2008, when Wayne Smith passed away.
During Bernice's time in Hallettsville, she cut and styled hair at Peggy's till she decided to take a job at Walmart Pharmacy, where she worked for 25 plus years.
Bernice always enjoyed keeping house, working in her yard, and serving others by volunteering at LAMB and Sacred Heart. She really enjoyed her grandkids. She was always helping when she could get the chance. She never turned down an opportunity to have them around. She saw it as a blessing to be a part of their lives.
Bernice is survived by: her loving children, Timothy Wayne Leadford & wife Teresa and Tait Lee Leadford & wife Angela; six grandchildren, Brooke Nicole Leadford, Shelby Renee Leadford Zavala, Zachurie Tait Leadford, Charles Corey Stovall, Adison Elisabeth Bujnoch and Avery Anne Bujnoch; four great grandchildren, Zayne Wyatt Stovall, Mileena Janell Stovall, Matthew James Stovall and Charlie Don Stovall; sister Patricia Elizabeth Phillips; brother Dennis Edward Naiser; and three nephews, Vernon Naiser, George Phillips and Brian Phillips
Bernice was preceded in death by; her first husband Jerry Wayne Leadford, second husband Wayne Lee Smith, her parents Edward and Alla Naiser and brother James Clarles "Sonny" Naiser.
Bernice will be remembered for the family she leaves behind, her smile, her love to serve others and to always put God first.

Memorial Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville; with visitation at 10 am and rosary at 10 :30 am. Officiant: Rev. Christopher Bediako. Reception at 11:30 am at Sacred Heart. after the mass.
