Obituary

Benedict J. Netardus, 79, of Jersey Village, TX, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 10, 2017. He was born on March 8, 1938 in Wied, TX, to James and Mary Netardus. He graduated at the top of his class from Saint Ludmila's Academy Catholic School in Shiner, TX in 1956. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, and served our country for three years before being honorably discharged in 1959. On April 23, 1960, he married Jeanette Opela at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville TX.

Ben & Jeanette lived their married life in the Houston area where he worked in the electrical supply business, from which he retired from in 2004, after 40 plus years. He enjoyed doing DIY projects for himself and others, and also enjoyed listening to and playing music, especially Polka music. His favorite instruments to play were the accordion, guitar and banjo.

Ben was a member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Cypress TX, and a member of the KJT (Catholic Union of Texas).

Ben is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Jeanette; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jeanne Netardus of Jersey Village, TX; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vaclav (Jim) & Victoria Netardus of Wied, TX, and Charles & Angie Netardus of Wied, TX; sister, Mary (Netardus) Pustka of Shiner, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ben was preceded in death; by his parents James and Mary Netardus, infant brother Frankie, and brother-in-law Victor Pustka.

Funeral Mass Service: 3 pm, Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Saturday at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at 7 pm. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Kenneth Netardus, George Holub, Christopher Pustka, Timothy Pustka, Mark Netardus and Allen Netardus. Honorary Pallbearer: James Pustka. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): St. Mary's Catholic Church or St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery of Hallettsville, or charity of donor's choice.
