Beatrice Dornak Melnar, 93, of Hallettsville, passed away Nov. 8, 2009. She was born on March 13, 1916 to August F. Dornak & Karolina Kutach Dornak in Worthing, TX. She married Robert L. Melnar on October 25, 1938 at St. Mary's Church. She was a member of K.J.Z.T., Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Beatrice is survived by: 3 sons, Daniel Melnar & wife Mathilda of Mont, TX, Gilbert Melnar & wife Faye of Victoria, and Robert J. Melnar & wife Sylvia of Victoria; daughter Ginny Appelt & husband Gary of Richmond; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; and brother Hubert Dornak of Hallettsville.

Beatrice was preceded in death by: her husband Robert; parents; 10 brothers, Joe, Charlie, Louis, Willie, Albert, Mike, August Jr., Rudolph, Tom, and Otto Dornak; and 4 sisters, Julia Brosch, Elenora Smirak, Pauline Chaloupka, and Lucie Sitka.

Funeral Mass: 10 am, Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 2 pm, Wednesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Wednesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers (grandsons): Rodney Melnar, Darryl Melnar, John Melnar, Kevin Mersmann, James Terry, and Thomas Sage. Honorary Pallbearers (granddaughters): Sandra Bradway, Donna Mersmann, Melissa Terry, Laura Sage, and Kristin Appelt. Memorials: Hospice of South Texas, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or School, Koerth Cemetery Association, or Donor's Choice. Burial: Koerth Catholic Cemetery.
