Barbora Frances Kutach Fritsch Gummelt, 84, of Hallettsville, passed away April 28, 2014. She was born on Dec. 28, 1929 to John R. & Frances Mozisek Kutach. She married David C. Gummelt on Oct. 26, 1974. They enjoyed nearly 40 years together. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Barbora graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1947. In her early years, she taught in some country schools. She and her parents ran JRK's Cafe from November 1953 to October 1974.

Barbora's interests included canning the vegetables she grew in her garden, fishing, and enjoying nature in general. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking. She would bring freshly baked kolaches or pies to family gatherings.

Barbora is survived by: husband David; sisters-in-law, Irene Gummelt and Marjorie Ely; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Barbora was preceded in death by: her first husband, Shelton Fritsch; parents; and brothers-in-law, George W. Gummelt and Robert G. Ely.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Wednesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiants: Rev. Herb Beyer and Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: LaNoal Eschberger, L.A. Muehr, Donald Muehr, Layton Muehr, Alton Sevcik, and Robert Sciba. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery.
