Gussie is survived by: daughter Jeanette Henke & husband Robert of Hallettsville; brother Adolph Opela of Hallettsville; 2 sisters, Lillie Satsky and Theresa Brosch of Hallettsville; 2 grandchildren, Julie Regan & husband Patrick, and Monica Rivers & husband John; and 3 great grandchildren, Alison Regan, Cameron & Jarred Rivers.
Gussie was preceded in death by: husband Edward; son Patrick Kurtz; parents; 2 brothers, Louis and Rudy Opela; and 5 sisters, Janie Spracek, Agnes Janak, Mary Pekar, Helen Wall (twin sister), and Dorothy Fikac.
Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Wednesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 9:30 am, Thursday at St. Mary's Church. Officiate: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Douglas Bruch, Lester Mitchell, Raymond Opela, Johnny Satsky, Clayton Janak, and Jeff Opela. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Hallettsville Rehab. Center, or Hospice of South Texas.
