August "Gus"
Rudolph Haase
January 27, 1923 – December 29, 2019
August "Gus" Rudolph Haase, 96, left on his final journey home on December 29, 2019. He was born in Moulton Texas, January 27, 1923, to his William Kurl Haase and Friederika Alma Krause. He is the youngest son of 7 children. Gus and two of his brothers, William and Victor, all served in WW2, and all came home safe.
PFC August R. Haase served in the army infantry from March 1943 to March 1946 in the Atlantic & Pacific. Gus was a farm boy from Hallettsville and he volunteered his services to this country after contact work with Douglas Air Force out of California to build military aircraft. He was a military police in Japan. He worked at Kelly Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic. He also had an assistant living facility in Hallettsville. After he retired, he joined the color guard in Hallettsville in till 2014. Gus loves to dance to country music poka waltzes to Charles and the fabulous four and the red Ravens.
Gus is survived by: his wife Dollie Haase; 6 kids, 4 daughters (Linda & husband Donnie, Margaret & husband Allen, Penny & husband Jerry, and Lois Willson), and 2 sons (Grey & wife Jennie and Wesley O'Neal); sister Alma Genzer; 17 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Gus was a wonderful man with a kind heart. He will be very miss but never forgotten.
Funeral Service: 1 pm, Monday January 6, 2019, at Kubena Funeral Home; with visitation starting at 10 am. Officiant: Pastor Marvin Miles.
