Obituary

Arnold Emil Hrncir, aka "Rooster", 91, of Hallettsville, TX, was called home by his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2018. Arnold was born March 12, 1926 in Moravia, Texas. He was preceded in death by; his parents Emil and Pauline Hrncir, his sister Bernice Overstreet, and the love of his life, wife Evelyn Laas Hrncir.

Arnold retired from Morgan Buildings in Hallettsville in 1990 before spending the rest of his days on his farm where he took great pride in raising cattle and tending his garden. He and Evelyn spent their lives selflessly helping others who were unable to help themselves. They both served at St. Peters Lutheran Church, where he ushered and volunteered in numerous roles while Evelyn played the church organ for 50 years. Along with Evelyn, he enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska, Branson, Colorado and Florida.

Arnold was a domino enthusiast, weather extraordinaire, and a steady, easy-going soul. He was always happy to lend a hand to anyone in need. He loved reading and studying the Bible, enjoyed westerns and Bugs Bunny to the very end, and grew the tallest okra in Lavaca County. A wonderful friend - He made all who knew him feel loved, cherished… and humbled.

Arnold was also a jokester - and became known as "Rooster" at the two nursing care centers he lived at for numerous years. What started out to be just a fun mimic of a crowing rooster turned out to be a delight to those who heard it and looked forward to this ongoing farm sound, especially around breakfast time. "Cock-a-doodle-doo"

Arnold is survived by: daughters, Paula Kennedy & husband Don of Corpus Christi, TX, and Phyllis Hildebrandt & husband Chris of Hallettsville, TX; Son Arnie Hrncir & wife Carol of Glacier View, AK; his sister Irene Smith; his 6 Grandchildren, Jay, Season, April, Dustin, Krystal and Shana; his 13 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
