IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anton Frank
Okruhlik
December 3, 1928 – February 3, 2016
Anton Frank Okruhlik, 87, of Praha, TX, passed away Feb. 3, 2016. He was born on Dec. 3, 1928 to John & Anna Jasek Okruhlik in Praha, TX. He was the youngest of 12 children.
Anton was a farmer and also raised cattle, hogs and chickens. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha; and KJT, serving as the local treasurer for many years. He married Julia Blaha Okruhlik on Oct. 19, 1974, she died on March 22, 2012, and they were married for 37 years.
Anton loved visiting with people. He would get in his truck and stop and talk to friends and neighbors. If you were working near the road or your gate was open, he would stop to chat. When it got harder for Julia to get around, he cared for her. Trips to town, to the doctor or grocery store were frequent. Their place to stop for lunch was Dairy Queen. Chicken tenders, a fish burger during Lent followed by a Blizzard, were the usual choices. He loved checking the cattle and he and Julia always had a lot of cats.
Anton's fall on the ice in 2014 began his stay at Stevens Nursing and Rehab in Hallettsville. He enjoyed various activities there. He was the Valentine King last year and rode in the Kolache Fest Parade this year. He enjoyed driving up & down the halls in his wheel chair and especially his therapy sessions. He remained strong in his faith and attended Mass & rosary when he was able. He also enjoyed sitting at the door and looking out. He was best known at the rest home for his love of Dr. Pepper!
Thanks to all the neighbors, health care workers and priests who helped in so many ways over the years. Your kindness and consideration are greatly appreciated.
