IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anita Mae
Hobbs
September 6, 1949 – October 24, 2018
Anita Mae Hobbs, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, 69, of Hallettsville, TX and formerly Friendswood, TX, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Wednesday morning, October 24, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born September 6, 1949 to Georgie and August Henke in Hallettsville, TX. She was the youngest of three children. Anita recently celebrated her 50 year wedding anniversary to her loving husband Carl Hobbs.
Following graduation from Sacred Heart Catholic High School, Anita married Carl Hobbs and attended the University of Houston graduating in 1972 with a BS degree in Petroleum Land Management. Anita began her career in Houston and evolved into a well-respected oil & gas landman for over 40 years for many energy companies including American Coastal. After her retirement, Anita and Carl returned to Hallettsville to live on the ranch where she was enjoying a life of community involvement and service, serving as member of the Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce, Catholic Daughters, and the Hallettsville Garden Club.
Anita was a very beautiful, caring, and selfless woman who was eager to care for others. She loved her family and friends, and she was deeply loved by them. She loved spending time with her family and hosting many of the holidays Christmas and Easter family gatherings each year at her home. Anita had many loves: horses, dogs, Wimberley, TX, travel, playing games, and every kind of celebration, but her great love of family was the central force of her life.
There are not words enough to express how deeply Anita will be missed. Anita is survived by: her husband Carl Hobbs; her three daughters, Kimberly Montz & husband David, Sarah Furman & husband Tony, and Megan Hobbs, all of Friendswood, TX; her sister Helen Pesek of East Bernard, TX; and her brother August Henke of Bellville, TX; her eight grandchildren, Joshua Montz, Hannah Montz, Samantha Montz, Zachary Montz, Bradley Furman, Avery Furman, Addison Furman, and Peyton Furman; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents August and Georgie Henke.
