Obituary

Andrew Barrera, 70, of Hallettsville, passed away on August 6, 2009. He was born on March 15, 1939 to Guadalupe & Otilia Gutierrez Barrera in Lavaca County, Texas. He marred Minerva Gonzales Barrera on March 18, 1961 in Hallettsville. He served in the US Army for 2 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Andrew is survived by: his daughter Melissa Griner & husband Mark of Nacogdoches; son Jesse Barrera & wife Claudia of Schulenburg; 6 brothers, John, Lupe and Joe Barrera of Hallettsville, Norbert Barrera of Schulenburg, Fidencio Barrera of Austin, and Ben Barrera of Utah; 3 sisters, Minnie Rollins of Weimar, Genoveva DeLaRosa and Josie Reynolds of Hallettsville; 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Savannah and Keegan Barrera, and Avery and Gavin Griner; and 3 great grandchildren.

Andrew was preceded in death by his wife Minerva and his parents.

Funeral Mass: 10 am, Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 2 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Alan Rollins, Guy Gardiner, Keegan Barrera, Lupe Gonzales, Tim Barrera, and Stephen DeLaRosa. Honorary Pallbearers: Narciso Martinez. Officiate: Rev Michael Rother. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
