Obituary

Alton Robert Weiser was born Sept. 7, 1923 in Rosebud, Texas to Alfred Frederick Wieser Sr. and Nannie Ocker Wieser. He passed to his eternal rest on February 16, 2013, in Shiner, Texas, at the age of 89. He grew up in Rosebud, Texas and helped on the family farm until he graduated from Rosebud High School. Jobs he held during his lifetime included: owner and operator of a service station in Rosebud, railroad worker, landlord, real estate agent, and then retired from Diamond Shamrock Chemical plant in Deer Park, Texas. After his retirement he and the family moved to Hallettsville where he did ranching and owned Weiser's Catering Service.

Alton married Aubrette Jones on May 27, 1945. She preceded him in death on July 9, 1980. He later married Elvera Nelson on January 28, 1984 in Shelby, Texas. They made their home in the Shelby area where he worked part-time as a sausage salesman for Eckermann's Meat Market. Gardening, hunting, fishing, playing dominoes, traveling, and especially dancing were some of his favorite things to do. Much time was spent attending area dances, celebrations, and parties. He always enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Alton was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby. Several years ago they moved into a retirement home in Brenham where he lived until June, 2012, at which time he moved to Hallettsville and lived out his days in the home of his son and daughter-in-law.

Survivors include one son, Mickey L. Weiser and wife Patsy of Hallettsville; daughter, Judy Kingman of LaPorte; daughter-in-law, LaDonna Weiser of Splendora; step-daughter, Gloria Hahn of Ganado; and one brother Alfred "Hip" Wieser, Jr. and wife Doris of Rosebud. Grandchildren: Alton Lee "Chip" Weiser, Vickie Schroeder, Nick Helfrich, Keith Helfrich, Marla Morgan, Jeanie Langston, Hubert Lee Langston III, Cody Weiser, Collin Weiser, Denver Weiser, Ronald Lee Price Jr.; step-granddaughter, Rebecca Gutierrez; 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Alfred Frederick Wieser, Sr. and Nannie Ocker Wieser; wives, Aubrette Jones Weiser and Elvera Rudloff Nelson Weiser; daughter, Linda Jo Price; son, Billy Bob Weiser; granddaughter, Joyce Price; son-in-law, Ronald Lee Price Sr.; sisters, Ann Wehmeyer, Bobbie Slaughter, and Hallie Yates; and brothers, WilliamWieser and Lenard Wieser.

Memorial Funeral Service: 10 am, Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 9 am, Wednesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Collin Weiser. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship, 1010 15th Street, Huntsville, Texas 77340.
