Obituary

Alton Eugene Brown Sr. or "Poppie", 77, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Alton was born March 4, 1942 to Ludmilla Vasek Brown and Clarence W. Brown. On July 29, 1961 he married Caroline Webb and adored her until his final breath.

Alton was well-known for his welding service and also his dedication to the community as Constable for Precinct 1. He served Lavaca County for 32 years from 1984 until his retirement in February 2017. More importantly, he was a great husband, friend, and Poppie. He and Caroline loved to travel and have many memories from hunting in Colorado and New Mexico, exploring from coast to coast, and gambling in Vegas and Louisiana. He loved the Golden Nugget! At home he was never idle, if he wasn't at his shop he could be found watching and caring for his herds of exotics or eating a big bowl of his favorite Blue Bell ice cream, and watching the white tail as they migrated past the house.

Alton is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Caroline Webb Brown; his children, Linda Brown Myrick and Alton E Brown Jr (Shelly); six grandchildren, Keri Myrick, Toni Brown Harding (Michael), Alton E Brown III, Aidan Brown and Jared & KarlyAnne Lowery; great grandson Brysen Janak; four sisters and a brother, Lucille Bujnoch, Bernice Woytek, Margaret Brown Hines (Cowboy), Delores Kutach (Steve), and Clarence Brown (Beatrice); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Alton was preceded in death by: his parents; his brothers, Vernon & wife Dorothy (who Alton thought of as a sister) and Marvin; grandson James Alton Myrick; and nephews, Ronald Brown and Charles "Chuck" Brown.

The family would like to thank Hospice of South Texas for their assistance the last few months.
