Alton August Zbranek, 81, of Hallettsville, TX, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. He was born on January 2, 1945, in Hallettsville, TX, to Edward & Natalie Appelt Zbranek.
Alton attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School. He was a devout and dedicated Catholic who looked forward to weekly Mass and the Rosary. His love for Jesus was evident in his constant prayers for his family. He will always be remembered for his unselfishness, compassion, and love for his family and others. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes, watching Wheel of Fortune, and following sports. He will be greatly missed by all.
Alton is survived by: his sister Lillian Fowler & husband, Clarence; nieces Tina Rincon & husband Gregory Rincon Sr. and Melissa Zbranek Mesa & husband Rudy; nephews, Chris Fowler, Rodney Fowler & wife, Linda and Michael Fowler; great nieces, Mariah Bates & husband Jared, Meghan Anders & husband Austin and Elya Rincon; great nephews, Jonathon Fowler & wife, Aleacia, Colton Fowler & wife Maryann, Rudy Aaron Mesa, Gregory Anthony Rincon, Jesus Rincon and Marcus Rincon; great great nieces, McKenna Fowler and Aubrey Anders; and great great nephews, Carson Fowler, Jackson and Cole Anders, Reese Fowler and Wyatt James Bates who Alton was looking forward to arriving in May.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents, brother Alois Zbranek and sister Yvonne Zbranek.
Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville; with Visitation starting at 9 am and Rosary starting at 10:30 am. Pallbearers: Chris Fowler, Rodney Fowler, Michael Fowler, Jimmy Appelt, Gregory A. Rincon and Rudy Mesa. Honorary Pallbearers: Gregory Rincon Sr. and Rudy Aaron Mesa. Officiant: Rev. Michael Rother. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church and/or Sacred Heart Catholic School (400 East 5th Street, Hallettsville, Texas 77964) or Charity of Your Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
