Alton Arthur Pohl Jr.

Alton Arthur Pohl Junior, 65, of Hallettsville, passed away September 19, 2026. He was born July 22, 1961 to Alton “Jack” Pohl and Imogene (Castleman) Pohl of Hallettsville Texas. Alton married Peggy Ervin August 29, 1981 and from that union was born two sons Austen and Preston Pohl.

Alton worked in the oilfield for many years before he entered into the ministry. He pastored God’s worship center for over 20 years teaching the word and love of God. His unconditional love was the core of who he was and his ability to believe in you made you believe in yourself. He preached and lived that we do not have a “love walk” but we should be the love of God walking every day to every one we encounter.

One of Alton’s many passions was golf, he loved the game and all the antics included. We absolutely cannot forget his love for the Cowboys and for the Astros spending hours cheering for every player, touchdown or home run.

A devoted husband, Alton and Peggy recently celebrated 45 years of marriage.

His sons Austen and Preston as he often said were “his greatest accomplishments.”

Alton stepped into heaven greeted by loved ones that had gone before him. His life and legacy was celebrated by his wife Peggy and sons Austen and Preston Pohl. His immediate family of brothers and sisters, brother and sister in laws, daughter in law, granddaughters, a host of nieces and nephews, cherished friends and those he touched with every act of love and kindness.

His legacy of love will forever live on.

Funeral Service: 3 pm, Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Eason Building (407 South Dowling) of Hallettsville with Visitation at 1 pm. Officiant: Rev. James Fowler. Memorials: Donor’s Choice. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery.
