Obituary

Mr. Alton A. Appelt, 99, of Hallettsville, died April 14, 2007. He was born on Oct. 12, 1907 to Edward A. & Frances Stanzel Appelt in Lavaca County, Texas. He married Matilda Haas on Oct. 29, 1929 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. He was an ex-constable in Lavaca County, member of Appelt's Hill Gun Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Alton is survived by: brother-in-law Harvey Haas & wife Mary of Victoria; 2 sister-in-laws, Helen M. Appelt and Evelyn Haas of Hallettsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alton was preceded in death by: wife Matilda; parents; sister Natalie Zbranek; and 4 brothers, Edward F., Hilmer A., James "Smokey", and Alphonse Appelt.

Service: 10 am, Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: Noon, Monday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 7 pm, Monday at Kubena Funeral Home; and 9:30 am, Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers: Michael Haas, Harvey Appelt, Michael Appelt, David Appelt, Daniel Appelt, and Lester Haas. Honorary Pallbearers: Nieces and Nephews. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
