IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Aline Antonie
Zak Wojtek
August 10, 1925 – May 11, 2020
Aline Antonie Zak Wojtek, age 94, of Hallettsville, passed away on May 11, 2020. She left peacefully surrounded by loving family. She was born in Hallettsville on August 10, 1925, to the late Joseph Zak and Sophie Vasek Zak. She was an only child until her brother was adopted, when she was 14 years of age. She married the love of her life, Frank J. Wojtek, on June 29, 1949, in Hallettsville, TX. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before his passing and were blessed with three children. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #4, the American Legion & VFW Auxiliaries.
Aline loved attending school until the age of fifteen, but when her mother passed away suddenly, she lovingly chose to stay home and help her father, which included raising her 18 month old adopted brother. Growing up during the Great Depression greatly influenced her early years. She worked hard on family farms, both before and after marriage. This included raising crops of cotton, peanuts, corn, and purple hull peas. The family harvested pecans, and raised chickens, hogs and livestock while living in the country. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her many gallons of beautiful strawberries that she sold in town. She had a love for flowers, enjoyed her many hours spent in her yard, and was very proud when the Hallettsville Garden Club awarded her "Yard of the Month". Over the years, on many occasions, she could be found baking pies, kolaches, and cookies in her kitchen. She liked spending time knitting, crocheting, embroidering, and quilting, especially her time spent on Mondays with the Quilting Ladies of St. Peter Lutheran Church. Being a seamstress also flowed over into her work life. At the age of 44, she went to work for Tandy Brands sewing leather belts, first in Hallettsville and then in Yoakum, where she retired after 23 years. Frank and Aline enjoyed dancing and listening to polka and waltz music. They also loved to travel and drove to many different states within the United States. Aline was a devout Christian, being baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was proud to have taught Sunday school for many years at Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren Church. She enjoyed sharing her faith with her family.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Pastor Jared Stillions for his special scripture readings and prayers before her passing. The family also appreciates the seven years of loving care given by the staff of Steven's Nursing and Rehabilitation who became part of her family in her declining years.
