Alice Sobotik Bludau, 94, of Hallettsville, passed away July 13, 2015. She was born on Dec. 28, 1920 to Louis A. & Frances Sitka Sobotik in Hallettsville. She married Joseph "Jodie" Bludau on Dec. 27, 1939 in Hallettsville. She was a member of KJZT, Christian Mothers, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Texas Extension Homemakers Association, Sacred Heart Altar Society, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.
Alice attended St. Mary's and Brown School. Growing up on a farm, she learned a very excellent work ethic. She was an excellent housewife, homemaker, seamstress and cook. She always had a beautiful garden, and continued to care for her cows and chickens through her late 80's.
Alice was active in many organizations and in anything that involved her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. All of her children and many of her grandchildren attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, where she was always involved in their activities.
Alice is survived by: 2 sons, Joseph Bludau III of Hallettsville, and Robert "Bobby" Bludau & wife Carol of Hallettsville; 3 daughters, Virginia Korenek & husband John of Garwood, Alice "Dolly" Johnson & husband Macklin of Hallettsville, and Donna Nevlud & husband Mark of Hallettsville; brother Norbert Sobotik of Hallettsville; sister Bernadette Bludau of Hallettsville; 31 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by: her husband Jodie; son Charles Bludau; daughter Marilyn Marikle; parents; sister Fannie Mae Sobotik; and 3 brothers, Louis P., Dr. Ben, and William Sobotik.
Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Friday, July 17, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at7 pm. Pallbearers: Joe Bludau IV, John Korenek, Clinton Johnson, Charlie Bludau, Bobby Bludau Jr., and Brent Christian. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic School or Charity of Your Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
