IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alfred H.
Lorfing
December 4, 1927 – December 25, 2012
After serving in the U S Army, he married Eunice Marie Fojt on Sept. 27, 1947. They were married in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hallettsville by the Rev. A. D. Klages, the same pastor who had Confirmed Alfred. They resided in the Rio Grande Valley for the next 5 years, with Alfred farming vegetables and cotton, and had their first child, Sandra.
They relocated to Victoria in 1956 and their second child, Alan, was born soon after. Six years later, their third child, Neil was born.
The family spent most of their life in Victoria with Alfred working in the electrical trade as a master electrician, electrical contractor and serving on the City Of Victoria Electrical Board. He had a great interest of passing on his knowledge to those new to the trade in the Victoria area.
He enjoyed raising and tending cattle on the Henry F. Lorfing homestead as well as hunting and fishing. He made sure he taught his grandkids how to take care of things around the farm. He strived to share his traditions with his grandkids and great-grand kids. He taught them how to drive and maintain the tractors and trucks, and was very forgiving of any mistakes. Even the youngest ones were taught with loving patience how to play games like bingo, dominoes and Chinese checkers, and even pinball with pecans. He always seemed to lose.
One of his greatest passions was playing his own music. Alfred never had any formal music training but he mastered the accordion, fiddle, guitar, French harp, piano and electric keyboard and often included the grandkids with singing.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eunice, a daughter Sandra Seals, two sons Alan & wife Debbie and Neil & wife Janet, 2 sisters: Lucille Parker and Dorothy Lorfing, 10 grandchildren: Brian, Michael, Jason, and John Seals, Kellie Martin, Michelle Lorfing, Bradley Williams, Sandy Whitley, Jason Williams, April Wittnebert, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Oscar and Adolph, a sister: Selma Langenberg and a son-in-law Greg Seals.
