Alfonse P. Steffek, 86, of Hallettsville, passed away May 26, 2009. He was born on May 4, 1923 to Joseph & Annie Bartosh Steffek in Hallettsville. He married Helen Marie Bujnoch Steffek on August 10, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2433, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Alfonse is survived by: son Allen Steffek & wife Anita of Hallettsville; daughter Linda Gauthier of Hallettsville; brother Louis Steffek of Edna; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Alfonse was preceded in death by: his wife Helen; parents; 2 brothers, Joe F. and Charlie Steffek; and 2 sisters, Mary Kallus and Ann Shiller.

Service: 10 am, Friday, May 29, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 2 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 7 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home; and 9:30 am Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Pat Steffek, Alvin Steffek, Albert Steffek, David Bujnoch, Danny Kallus, and James Steffek. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Lavaca County EMS.
