Alfonse S. Mucala, 85, of Hallettsville, died Dec. 2, 2008. He was born on Oct. 28, 1923 to John & Ludmila Kristek Mucala in Lavaca County, TX. He did construction work in his early years, then mechanic work, and later retired from Better Beverages Inc. of Hallettsville. Alfonse loved to be outdoors attending to his garden, and being around family and friends. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Alfonse is survived by: brother Victor Mucala & wife Ruth of Yoakum; 2 sisters, Lillie Mozisek of Moulton, and Adela Neubauer of Yoakum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alfonse was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 brothers, John and Alfred Mucala; and 3 sisters, one at a young age, Irene McClanahan, and Helen Ulcak.

Service: 10 am, Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 2 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Rosary: 7 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: G. E. McClanahan; Stanley Ulcak; Rogers Guildrey; Paul Mucala; Bill Roach; and Doyle Motes. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): American Heart Association or Sacred Heart Church.
