Albin L. "Sonny" Woytek Sr., 91, of Hallettsville, passed away Nov. 18, 2016. He was born on June 19, 1925, to Paul & Selma Quitta Woytek in Lavaca County, TX. He married Emma Jean Tesch on Feb. 11, 1956 at Vsetin Lutheran Church. He was a member of the American Legion and Czech Moravian Brethren Church of Vsetin.
Sonny served in the US Army from June 1944 to June 1946. He performed as a Tank Mechanic for the 778 th Tank Battalion. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Medal with 2 bronze service stars for the Rhineland Campaign and Central Europe Campaign; Good Conduct Medal; Army of Occupation (Germany) Medal; WWII Victory Medal; and 2 Overseas Service Bars.
Sonny is survived by: his wife Emma; 4 children, Deborah Petrosky & husband Gregory, Allan Woytek & wife Cheryl, Albin Woytek Jr. & wife Jackie, and Pamela Hollmann & husband Michael, all of Columbus, TX; brother Harvey Woytek & wife Betty of Hallettsville; 12 grandchildren, Betty Jean Hovis, Kristy Nelson, La Donna Kelley, Charlotte Goode, Donald Woytek, Shirley Novack, Cheryl Foster, Simone Belota, Taylor Hollamnn, Lance Woytek, Mikayla Hollmann, and Hunter Woytek; and 23 great grandchildren.
Sonny was preceded in death by: his parents; and 3 brothers, Marvin, Paulie and Lester Woytek.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, November 25, 2016, at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 4 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Prayer Service starting at 6 pm. Officiant: Rev. Herb Beyer. Pallbearers: Lance Woytek, Hunter Woytek, Donald Woytek, Steven Foster, Michael Woytek, Floyd Kelley, and Matt Belota. Honorary Pallbearers: Kevin Woytek, Gene Nelson, Steven Novack, Randy Woytek, Todd Hovis, and Darryl Woytek. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Burial: Vsetin Cemetery.
