Obituary

Adolph W. Opela, 87, of Shiner, passed away July 30, 2018. He was born on June 26, 1931 to Alois S. & Mary Jalufka Opela Sr. in Wied, TX. He married Evelyn Pekar on Nov. 27, 1951 in Sweet Home, TX. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, and member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Adolph is survived by: his wife Evelyn; son Jeff Opela & wife Shana; 2 daughters, Katherine Mitchell & husband Lester, and Jane Janak & husband T.J.; sister Lillie Satsky, all of Hallettsville; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Adolph was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 brothers, Alois Jr. and Rudolph "Rudy" Opela; and 7 sisters, Agnes Janak, Mary Pekar, Helen Wall, Gussie Kurtz, Theresia Brosch, Dorothy Fikac and Janie Spacek.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Wednesday at Kubena Funeral Home; with Rosary starting at 7 pm. Pallbearers: Nate Opela, Noah Opela, Clayton Janak, Jeremy Judd, Dalton Jetalina, Kaleb Mitchell, Douglas Brosch and Francis Brosch. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Hospice of South Texas or charity of your choice. Burial: St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery, Worthing, TX.
