Along with her nine brothers and sisters, Adele spent her early years on her parent's farm at Hackberry where she plowed behind a mule and picked cotton. During World War II, she worked in a hospital in Victoria, Texas before moving to Hallettsville. She studied to be an LVN at Renger Memorial Hospital and graduated in 1948 with the first class to be licensed in the state of Texas. Nursing was her true calling and she spent 40 years in her profession loving every minute of it.
Adele was a talented cook and baker. Adele also loved gardening, especially flowers. Her favorites were geraniums and roses. She loved socializing with everyone.
