Adela Grahmann, 91, of Hallettsville, passed away Jan. 11, 2019. She was born Feb. 9, 1927, to Paul & Hedwig Etzler, the fifth of seven children. She married Alvin J. Grahmann on Oct. 28, 1947 and together they raised their six children. They owned/operated Grahmann's True Value in Hallettsville and Schulenburg.
Adela attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and also a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas, and charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary Volunteer Fire Dept.
Adela taught her family to have faith and trust in God, she instilled in her family to always love one another. She expressed her love thru cooking, sewing and quilting. She loved to celebrate the holidays and birthdays with big family gatherings. Her favorite was Christmas; she would decorate the whole house and make sure there was plenty of good food. She loved having the entire family gather for these special occasions. She loved to play dominos, her favorite was "42", and she always tried to get a game in, anytime family came over.
When Adela retired, she was able to pursue some of her hobbies. She loved gardening and always had one of the most beautiful yards, adorned with lots of flowers, especially her favorite "Roses". She also took up quilt making, which she learned as a young girl. She became very good at this, she won many trophies at quilt shows. She made many quilts, wall hangings and baby quilts, which she lovingly gave to her family.
Adela is survived by six children: Linda & Ron Wright, Alvin Paul & Barbara Grahmann, Forrest & Christine Grahmann, Barbara & Don Rainosek, Michael & Janice Grahmann, and Mark & Pam Grahmann; 14 grandchildren, Aaron Wright, Aric (Tina) Wright, Lisa (Justin) Koehne, Steven (Breann) Grahmann, Amy (Jeffrey) Floyd, Laura (Randall) Duty, Scott (Stephanie) Rainosek, James (Rachel) Rainosek, Roxanne (Jeremy) Stoever, Rene (Mike) Dusek, Kristin (Willie) Janecka, Craig Grahmann, Kelly (Justin) Rother, and Kayla (Justin) Pearson; one step grandson Aaron Grahmann; 26 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Hubert Etzler and Arthur Etzler; and sister Evelyn Ahlgrim.
Adela was preceded in death: by her husband Alvin Joseph Grahmann; her parents; and three sisters, Regina Pagel, Helen Kresta and Lilly Sitka.
Funeral Mass Service : 10 am, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home with the Rosary starting at 7:00 pm. Pallbearers (grandsons): Aaron Wright, Aric Wright, Steven Grahmann, Scott Rainosek, James Rainosek and Craig Grahmann. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic School, St. Rose of Lima School or donor's choice. Entombment: Sacred Heart Cemetery.
